NTJWC continues its support for OASIS

What is OASIS?

The acronym OASIS stands for Outreach Assisting Students In Schools. This non-profit organization was specifically developed as a unique and effective way of directly distributing donations of children’s personal items to our county’s most needy public school children. Direct communication and cooperation with school based social workers and other school representatives make this effort possible.

What does OASIS do?

The OASIS Network was originally formed by New Tampa volunteers who have worked closely with Hillsborough County Schools for many years, and have become increasingly concerned with the overwhelming number of local public school children who remain in desperate need of life’s basic necessities. Without proper school clothing, sweaters, shoes, school supplies, and even simple hygiene items, thousands of children throughout Hillsborough County find it very difficult to learn and prosper in a school setting. For these children, Hillsborough County residents, schools, churches, foundations, corporations and charitable clubs can and will make a dramatic impact on the lives of these needy children.

NTJWC volunteer schedule

Mandy Manno will coordinate volunteers to go to Tampa Palms Elementary to help sort donations Wednesdays during the school year from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact Mandy at oasis@gfwcnewtampajuniors.org.

How can you help?

You can support OASIS by volunteering your time to help sort clothes or by donating used clothing items. Collection bins are located around the New Tampa area. To locate a collection bin near you or to learn more about OASIS, please visit their website at www.oasis-network.org.
